A CMS alternative for static sites
You do not need a headless CMS to let a client change a headline. You need an editor on the live page and a place to store the saves.
How
- Overlay: saves stored by us and applied on load, any host.
- Git: every save is a commit to your repo.
- Hosted: we host the files, every save is a version.
- The client library is open source, MIT.
The install
<script src="https://edit.thebrainer.co/edit.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_KEY" defer></script>
Before </body> on every page, or once in the layout. Works on Lovable, Bolt, Claude Code, Next.js, Astro, Vite, Webflow, Framer and plain HTML. Docs.
Questions
Does the client need an account?
No. They get a link by email that opens their site with the editor. Revoke it any time.
Can the client break the layout?
No. They change text, photos and simple styles. Layout, design and code are not touchable.
Where do the saves go?
By default we store them and apply them on the live page for every visitor. Optionally every save is a commit to your GitHub repo, or we host the site.
What does it cost?
First site free. $9 per site per month after that, $6 from 20 sites. You charge your client what you want.
